New Friends

Saturday night we had the opportunity to spend some time with some new friends, Jeff and Abby and family.  Abby and I had an e-mail friendship and we decided to get our families together.  It was so fun to see our husbands and kids connect and we had a great time.  Special thanks to Ava and Layne for so patiently playing with Kate and Lincoln.  Thanks guys, we had a great time and can’t wait to do it again!

Equal Opportunity Pretenders

Kate and Lincoln have really begun to play with each other often.  They have quite the imaginations.  Lincoln and Kate have the opportunity to be in my cousin Derek’s wedding, so I was trying Lincoln’s suit on him.  He was so proud of it that he did not want to take it off.  This prompted Kate to want to wear her dress from Brett and Tessa’s wedding.  They played “bride and groom” for awhile, complete with dancing. :)

After awhile, “bride and groom” turned into prince and princess.  They sat up their chairs and were riding around in the carriage.  Then, Kate decided one chair needed to be in front so that they had a horseman for their carriage.  Kate told Lincoln to be the horseman.  He said, “I not horseman, I prince.”  Somehow she convinced him to sit up front and “drive” the carriage.  Lincoln went and got a pretend key and said, “I not horseman, I prince.  I drive.”  He then turned the pretend key and off they went.

Later in the day, they were playing with tools, fixing up the hallway.

We went out and raked some leaves one afternoon.  When we were done, Kate asked to jump in them.  So, I let her (we only have two trees, it doesn’t take long to rake leaves).  She jumped in the pile and Lincoln said, “You mess up my pile” and immediately set to raking them again.

Two Months

We took Creighton for his two month check-up.  It’s hard to believe he’s that old already.

Family Fun

This past weekend we had a visit for our MN buddies.  Yes, this is the best of the pictures.  :)

Since Kate didn’t have preschool on Monday I was going to take the 3 kids to Radar Family Farms.  Since we have not had a lot of time together as a family, Mike took the morning off of work and went with us.  Creighton was perfect and the kids had a great time.  Thanks, Mike, I actually don’t know how I would have done it without you.  You made it a fun morning for all of us. :)

Creighton update: For those who are curious, Creighton does indeed have only a slight case of reflux.  We have so far been able to keep him more comfortable by giving up 1 tsp of rice cereal in with a bottle twice a day and give him gas drops as needed.  He is doing well with these things and should not need to go on zantac at this point.  Thanks for thinking of us!

Fire Station

We had another first in our family this week.  I went on my first field trip with Kate.  Creighton got to hang out at Kaiser Const while Kate, Lincoln, and I went with Kate’s preschool class to the Fire Station in Danvers.  I have no idea why they went to Danvers instead of Mackinaw, but Kate and Lincoln had a great time.  Lincoln tried on the firemen’s boots and declared “I can’t move.” Kate loved ringing the bell on the old-fashioned fire truck.  The kids all did great, aside from when they tested the tornado sirens. :)

Another fun thing is that Kate is officially night time potty trained.  Most of you could care less, I’m sure, BUT we are excited to just have two kids in some type of diapers now.  Next up, potty training Lincoln….would anyone like to do that for me?  Grandma K promised Kate a special treat if she stayed dry at night for 30 days.  It was an amazing motivator.  Here she is with her “treat” – a strawberry shortcake dress-up outfit.

Lastly, after a rough couple of weeks for Creighton, he is becoming more content and happy.  He loves his dad, nobody can make him smile like his dad.  Here are a few pics of Mike getting Creighton to smile and even giggle.  So thankful he is starting to feel better and we are getting better at knowing how to handle his (slight) reflux.
