Kaiser Weekend

A week and a half ago or so, we enjoyed a Friday night and all day Saturday twist on the usual Kaiser Weekend.  We have been going away with my Dad’s family (he is one of 7) since 1989.  This year, we changed things up a little and instead of going to a hotel for the weekend, my parents hosted the event at their home.  Our (Mike Rassi) family had a blast!  These pictures barely scratch the surface of how much fun we had.  Thanks to my parents for hosting, my aunts and uncles for the activities they planned, and most of all to Grams and Popsy for the whole weekend!!  Also, special thanks to my Aunt Jane and Uncle Jeff and cousins, Scott and Trent, for all their serving food so that we could all enjoy all the activities.

Friday Night started with pizza, softball, swimming, and an outdoor movie (Thanks, Alissa, for getting the movie).

The heat made the screen sag, so these guys sat on it until they realized they could put water softner bags on it to hold it up. :)

Can’t have movies without snacks. :)

“Bike Town” was a huge hit with kids of all ages.  :)  It even had a car wash which the kids loved.

We rented a giant bounce house/obstacle course (Thanks for the idea, Greg).  Our oldest 3 declared the bounce house one of their favorite parts.

Saturday we had a full day of scavenger hunts, an Amazing Race, a bags tournament, a water balloon launch, water Olympics, and lots of food.

The Amazing Race deserves a little more explanation.  Aunt Joyce really went all out on this activity.  We were in teams of 4 and had to complete several activities.

First, you had to use newspaper and a roll of duct tape to build a table that was a certain number of inches high and would hold a brick.

These next pictures were taken by Kate as we were trying to beat the all-star team(Kev, Derek, Scott, and Jolynn).  We didn’t, but maybe next year.  ;)

We then had to get 3 trivia questions correct, throw rocks into buckets, throw footballs thru your team color on the tarp, climb a rope, and eat an entire watermelon.  I’ve always loved watermelon, but in all honesty, I haven’t eaten any since.  ;)
