Rain and Rainbows

Last Tuesday or Wednesday it was H-O-T in between the clouds and rain, so Wendy, Jen, and I broke out the kiddie pools for a little backyard pool fun. The water was C-O-L-D, but the kids didn't seem to mind. :)

Friday afternoon it started raining while we were playing outside. The kids didn't want to come inside, so I let them play in the rain and they LOVED it!

That evening, when it stopped raining, there was a huge rainbow in the sky. I couldn't get the whole thing in one frame. I love rainbows, they remind me that God is there, no matter what may be happening in life, I love to think of rainbows as a little hug from God Himself.

My friend, Amber, came over for dinner and to spend the evening with us. The kids loved her, even though Kate had a hard time remembering her name. When we asked her who she wanted to read her her bedtime stories she said, "Ummm......THAT girl." :)

Other funny Kate sayings from the week....."Mommy, my mouth is growlin' " - Not sure what that meant exactly.
Kate was singing a song and we heard her sing "...Mary, Mary, Mary....life is out of steam." - Interpretation - Merrily, Merrily, Merrily...life is but a dream.
We are spending as much time as possible in the pool this week. It is too H-O-T to do much else. :)

Our day

So, it was not a good day....but here's to hoping tomorrow is better. :) Here's the play by play.

7:30am - Kate and Linc get up
7:45 - Kate decides to go downstairs to play because it is raining
8:00 - Linc throws a class A tantrum, throwing his sippy cup numerous times because he wants milk in a bottle, instead of his sippy cup....I know this because he was throwing his sippy cup and signing drink while banging on the frig
8:15 all is well - both kids eating breakfast and drinking milk (out of sippy cups, score one for Mommy)
9:15 - Linc is again pitching a fit because he wants to be outside
9:30 - Mommy decides it's dry enough out to venture out
9:45 - Bryce and Wendy join us on the driveway
9:47 - Bryce and Kate get in fight #1
10:15 - Bryce goes home because Kate takes away every toy he plays with
10:20 - Kate goes to her room because she is cranky that her friend went home
10:30-10:50 - Kids actually play nicely together while coloring
10:50 - Mommy goes to kitchen to work on lunch
11:00 - Mommy comes back to find two kids covered in marker as well as yellow marker colored all over the carpet
11:30 - Eat lunch
12:00 - Put Linc and Kate down for a nap
12:10 - Kate comes out needing to go potty
12:20 - Kate comes out needing a drink (time added to her rest timer)
12:30 - Kate comes out to throw her paci away because "Mommy my paci is broken" - she chewed a hole in it (more time added to rest timer)
1:00 - Kate comes out again because she can't get a book put away right
1:15 - Ditto - (again more time added to rest timer)
1:45 - Rest timer goes off
2:00 - Linc wakes up
2-2:30 - Kids play relatively well together, with a few minor disagreements
2:30-3 - Kids go nuts, fighting constantly
3 - 4 - Mommy takes kids on long stroller ride
4-5 - Play puzzles and color
5 - Decide to let them play in sandbox
5:10 - See Bryce outside, so go to play with him with the warning that if Kate doesn't share we are coming straight home
5:20 - Kate and Bryce get in fight over bubble wand
5:20-5:25 - Mommy drags Kate and Linc back across the yard, struggling greatly to carry a squirming one year old and a kicking, screaming, flailing, and sobbing nearly 3 year old.
5:25-5:35 - Kate cries in room while Mommy tries to calm down and decide what to do.....
5:45 - Bliss - hubby comes home early AND takes kids for a walk..........

Critters Galore

We had a bit of a slower week this week, which was fine with us. Last Wednesday I decided to take the kids swimming by myself (a first for the year). It actually went really well. We swam for 3 hours before I made the kids get out of the pool so that we could go help Mike work on getting the boat ready for the summer. While we were swimming, I kept hearing this strange noise and Kate kept asking what it was, but I couldn't figure it out. As we were getting ready to leave, my Mom came home and we ended up walking around her house to try to figure it out. We decided a bird must have been caught in the downspout, so Mom went over to free the bird. She was shaking all the dirt and sticks, etc out of the downspout to free the bird when I saw the tail of a squirrel coming out. I hollered, "Mom, stop, it's a squirrel." (For some reason, I think squirrels are mean...don't know why for sure). She stopped and Frank (Mom's dog) came over and was dragging the poor squirrel (still stuck in the downspout) around her yard. We finally got Frank distracted and Kate was talking about talking about the squirrel being stuck and Frank chasing it, etc. My dad showed up a few minutes later and she had to go show him the squirrel. So, dad shook the downspout until the squirrel could get free at which point it ran as quickly as possible to the nearest tree and proceeded to climb all the way to the top. What a traumatic day for the squirrel. :)

Another critter story, I had gotten some lettuce from my parents garden. I took it home and washed it (3 times to be exact and even spun it in the salad spinner each time). I was calmly eating my salad for lunch the next day and looked down and thought, "What is that?" Upon closer examination, I decided it was a spider and it was still alive. I pushed my salad away and my Dad asked me what was wrong. I told him I just couldn't eat it. Thinking I meant because I'm not a huge salad fan Dad said he would eat it. I said, "No, there's a spider in there and I just can't eat one more bite." Dad said, relax, just get it out, you probably already ate the mate anyway......needless to say I did not finish my salad......

Friday night we had another Mack Attack night which was great fun and Saturday night we had a "shower" for Brett and Tessa out at the winery. We had a lot of fun at that as well, but didn't take any pictures.

Sunday we took the kids to the Turkey Festival parade and they loved it. We shouldn't have to buy candy for quite some time. :)

Turkey Festival Parade - Linc actually sat in this chair and watched for a solid 20 minutes.

A few posts back I wrote about my inability to let the kids outside by themselves...well, my AWESOME husband put a gate on our deck, so now I can let them play for a few minutes by themselves while I make supper or do a few things inside. With our two monkeys, it will probably never be more than a few minutes because they'll figure out how to get out, but for now it's working and I love it. Obviously, I still need to stain it. :) Thanks Michael!

One last note, for anyone who wondered if Lincoln would ever overcome his extreme laziness and walk, he is officially walking or I might call it running actually...he seems to have skipped right over walking and decided to simply run everywhere. We don't have any pics, but I need to get some because it's so funny.

Rassi Family Weekend

The Curt Rassi Family spent the past weekend in Winchester, Indiana at a Bed and Breakfast. We spent time swimming, playing baseball, croquet, going to the zoo, drinking old fashioned drinks at a soda shop, touring a house used in the Underground Railroad, making memories, eating, and just having fun. Thanks to Greg and Mary for planning this year! To get a more detailed report, head over to their blog by clicking http://littlegregsblog.blogspot.com.

The hammock got a LOT of use....pretty sure it fell down a couple of times...might of had something to do with the number of people always trying to lay in it. :)

Mike, Dad, Mom, Nic, Kate, Linc, and I went to ME's Zoo. We were a little skeptical at first, but it turned out to be a perfect zoo for two toddlers. :)

We then met up with the rest of the gang at an Old Fashioned Soda Fountain, called the Chocolate Moose. Everyone ordered some sort of old time drink, soda, or malt....I didn't hear any complaints. I was boring and had just a Coke with real cherry syrup added...boring I may be, but it was the best Cherry Coke I've ever had. :) Below Mike and Mom are distracting kiddos while waiting for everyone to finish up their treats.

In the right pic, they kids are watching the train go by.

Silas cashed out on the couch.

Linc watching the kids swim, he was so tired, he was just kicking his feet in the water and nearly fell asleep just sitting there, despite the hoopla going on in the pool.

Ring around the rosy...

...ashes, ashes, we all fall down!!

Play Day with Aubrey

Linc thinks he is playing a Wii :)

Aubs - not impressed that I am taking her picture

Eating the lunch Amber made us - food always tastes so good when someone else makes it. :)

Chasing Bubbles at the Park

We had a busy week last week, however, I took very few pictures. I hate that because now I wish I had them, but was just too lazy to take pictures. The above pictures are from our play day with Amber and Aubrey. We had a great time playing at the park, eating lunch, and playing with all of Aubrey's toys.

Friday night we celebrated Brett's birthday with a steak dinner that Dad and Mom made for us. Saturday morning Kate, Linc, and I went to Tessa's Embry shower...I have no pictures because I spent the morning doing this :) ....I stole this pic from my Mom.

Saturday afternoon we...or rather Mike, dug up the grass under our swingset and put bark chips down. Hopefully it will make his mowing much easier....again, no pictures.

Sunday night we went to Grandpa and Grandma's. They had the oldest half of the cousins, Jolynn down to Jesse over for a pizza and game night. It was a lot of fun. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma....wish I had some pictures. :)
