Time Marches On

August 17 was Kate’s first day of 1st grade.  She has a wonderful teacher and is enjoying being back at school with her friends.  On her first day at school, Lincoln looked at me and said, “Well, now what do we do?”  (Kate is fairly bossy, but he has quickly adapted to doing as he pleases again.)  When we left Kate in the gym, Creighton thru a kicking and screaming fit because he wanted to stay too.  So, yet again, our first day of school was not drama free.  If you don’t remember that story, go to the 2011 August Archives.

Mom K, Kate, and Creighton all have birthdays in August, so we celebrated with Culver’s, cake, and presents one Sunday.

One morning, we were getting ready for church.  I walked back into our room and found Creighton with a leftover bowl of popcorn (that had been in the kitchen) and the ipad.

This past weekend, we had the opportunity to spend approximately 24 hours with our good friends, Shannon and Susan in Missouri.  The kids enjoyed:

Playing with kittens (this gray kitten was very patient)

And Much More Fun!  Thank you, Shannon and Susan, and kids, for a wonderful time!!

Sunday we visited Mike’s grandparents at the nursing home, followed by dinner at Busy Corner, but I forgot my camera.  =(

This morning, Lincoln started back to preschool.  He had to make a poster of things “All About Me.”  (yes, he did go to school dressed like that….it’s just not worth the agony…I did ask if he thought his clothes matched and he said, “yes, my boots match my shirt.”  There you have it.)  =)

Singing in the Rain

After having an incredibly hot summer, it has been strange to have the first two weeks of August be so mild.  The kids had a great time playing in the rain one morning.

Creighton turned two last week.  I have a feeling his birthday will always be a bit nostalgic for me, as I think of Sacha and how she isn’t hear to help celebrate Jack’s birthday.  Creighton enjoyed his chocolate Texas cake and loves his new puppy.  The stuffed animal dogs are quite popular at our house and now he has one of his own.

Kate dressed Creighton up in her jewelry one morning, I’m certain here he is thinking “Please let our new baby be a girl.”  =)  The doctor seems to think she is a girl, but he wasn’t quite certain.  If you have any girl name suggestions, we’d love to hear them.  =)

The kids’ beloved friend (and ours too) Hayley, took these updated pictures of the kids for us.  Thanks so much, Hayley!!

Saturday we were able to spend a beautiful day at the lake with our good friends, Justin and Codee, and two of their kiddos.  It was a wonderful day, thanks for going with us.  Codee claimed she hadn’t been skiing for at least 10 years and Justin claimed he had never been.  They both popped right out of the water and looked like pros to me!!

Dan and Wendy hosted another outdoor movie night.  These pictures are all Bethany’s.  Thanks B!!  I laugh every single time I look at the picture of Norah and Kate.  =)

Kaiser Weekend and Rassi Birthdays

I took Kate school supply shopping last week, does it surprise anyone that she chose these folders?? =)

Mike was able to take Friday off from work and we got to leave for Kaiser Weekend early.  We were back at the Dells this year.  It is a great spot for our kids.  Thanks Uncle Tim and Aunt Ruth for organizing it and especially thank you Grandpa and Grandma for your incredible generosity!  We look forward to the weekend every year and it’s exciting to see Kate and Lincoln look forward to it now as well.

Kate took a few pictures.  =)

Most of my pictures are from the pool because that is where our 3 kiddos spent the weekend.

The boys absolutely loved the slides.  At one point, Creighton banged up his elbow pretty good and it didn’t slow him down one bit.

Lincoln started a water fight with Mike.  Even though he clearly was not winning, he kept coming back for more.  =)

On Sunday, we got home from the Dells, carried our bags inside and left again for Rassi Birthdays.  Since we weren’t sure if we’d get back in time, Creighton is going to celebrate his birthday with the next round and Kate got her gift (an evening out with Grandpa and Grandma, she is so excited), but will wait till next round for the gift from her cousins.

Laurie made the fun turtle cakes.  Thanks for helping me out, Laurie!!  I would not have had time to make anything!

Creighton was delighted with his gift from his cousins!
