Pictures

Well, I got a little behind on documenting daily life here on the blog.  It’s been busy and will be for a few more weeks.  Lots of field trips, awards ceremonies, and end of the school year fun.  But here’s a quick recap of each kiddo.

Anya – she is smiley and happy most of the time.  She sits up now and we call her our “fat and sassy” baby.

Creighton – he’s a 2 year old boy.  He’s fiesty and curious and enjoys every moment of life.  He talks constantly and there is never a dull moment with him around.

Lincoln – recently had his last preschool field trip.  He’s eagerly awaiting the start of Kindergarten.  I never thought I’d see the day this shy boy would look forward to school, but he’s genuinely looking forward to it.  He wants to know how everything works and why and most of the time I have no idea and say, “Ask your dad.”  I often find random pictures on my phone and camera as he continues to love taking pictures!

Kate continues to be our lil’ social butterfly.  She is happiest when with other people.  She loves animals and right now she thinks she would like to be a vet.  They recently had career day at school and we had to improvise a little, but she went as a vet.

Lincoln’s 5th Birthday

We have been enjoying the warmer temperatures.  The boys had their first picnic lunch of the spring!

We celebrated Lincoln’s birthday with my family on Friday night.  We had monster truck plates and napkins and Lincoln got to pick the meal.  He picked homemade sausage pizza, mac n cheese, broccoli, apples with caramel dip, and Toll House Pie.  :)

Lincoln has been BEGGING for a skateboard with elbow pads and knee pads, so my parents and brother and sister-in-law got him all the gear for his birthday.

Kate’s gift to Lincoln. :)  I feel like I should frame this and hang it somewhere to remind her.  =)  Actually, I think Lincoln really liked it as he put it in his “keep” box.

We started a new thing this year. We decided that once our kids are old enough to care about birthday’s, we are going to take them out to eat by themselves and then to a store of their choice to pick out their gift. Lincoln choose Steak N Shake and Toys R’ Us. He picked out some Hot Wheels stuff.

Shattered–A Book Review

I have several friends who review books for various companies.  I decided to give it a try.  While it was nice to receive a free book, I probably won’t do any more for awhile as it is just not a good time in my life to have to read a book in a timely matter.

I was given a free copy of the book “Shattered” By Dani Pettrey from Bethany House Publishers. It is considered an inspirational suspense novel.   I was not compensated in any way and all opinions are mine.

The Plot (directly from the back of the book)

Piper McKenna couldn't be more thrilled that her prodigal brother, Reef, has returned to Yancey, Alaska, after five years. But her happiness is short-lived when Reef appears at her house covered in blood. A fellow snowboarder has been killed--but despite the evidence, Reef swears he's innocent. And Piper believes him.
Deputy Landon Grainger loves the McKennas like family, but he's also sworn to find the truth. Piper is frustrated with his need for facts over faith, but he knows those closest to you have the power to deceive you the most. With his sheriff pushing for a quick conviction, some unexpected leads complicate the investigation, and pursuing the truth may mean risking Landon's career.
With Piper waging her own search, the two head deep into Canada's rugged backcountry--and unexpected complications. Not only does their long friendship seem to be turning into something more, but this dangerous case is becoming deadlier with each step.

My opinion

I enjoyed the book.  I enjoy reading books that I can’t immediately figure out what the end will be.  I wasn’t able to figure out who killed the snowboarder until close to the end of the book.  I think the mystery portion of the book was very well written and it held my attention.  The characters were well developed, they were either likeable or not so much.

In all honesty, the romance portion of the book was a little cheesy at points, but for the most part it was ok.  I don’t really enjoy a ton of sap, so there was maybe a bit much for my personal tastes.

Overall, I enjoyed the book.

All I wanted Was ONE picture :)

We had a fun weekend celebrating the resurrection with family.  I don’t have many pictures to share, but my aunt’s blog has quite a few pictures on it if you are interested.

We dyed some eggs.
