Zoo

I had gotten 4 free zoo passes at a fundraiser, so on one of the more mild days, my Mom agreed to help me take the kids to the zoo.  It was a beautiful day and the kids enjoyed seeing the animals.

When we went to see the lions, the male was sitting 10-15 feet away.  When we were standing there looking at him, he got up and walked right up to Kate and they were nose to nose.  The only thing separating them was the window.  Her eyes got real big as she watched him get closer and closer.  You have to look closely to see the lion thru the blurry window.

These girls probably won’t be happy with me, but I just had to put this picture up.  These girls are some of my very dearest friends.  With one of us living 10 hours away, one of us with 5 kids, one of us with a husband with a terminal illness, we don’t get to see each other much.  But once a year (at least) we get together to shop or this year we just spent the afternoon in my parents pool.  Thanks so much girls, it was fun to spend the day with you and catch up on life!

Kate had her last t-ball game today.  She improved SO much!  All the kids received a medal, which of course they thought was great.

Boating

We were able to take our boat out to Clinton Lake a couple of times in June.  Dad and Mom K went with us one time and Nic and Amanda the other.  The kids all did great.  Lincoln loves the boat the most of the 3 kids and can’t wait until he is old enough to learn to ski.  He surprised us by wanting to ride the tube by himself.  He kept sticking his little thumb up to tell Mike to go faster.  =)

Imagination

Kate and Lincoln have been very creative in their play time lately.  One afternoon the created “Angry Birds.”  They had the towers, the birds, the slingshot and the whole works.

The morning before we went to the zoo they built a fairly elaborate zoo.

We had a neighborhood outdoor movie showing one evening.  We had popcorn and root beer floats and watched Homeward Bound on blankets on a white sheet.

Safety Expo and Swimming

A week and a half or so ago, we took the kids to the Safety Expo at the Grand Prairie Mall.  They had fire trucks, police officers, police dogs, the helicopter and much more.  I was disappointed when we arrived that we had missed the arrival of the helicopter because it was Kate and Lincoln’s favorite thing from the previous year.  We got in line to see the helicopter and when it was almost our turn they got a call and had to leave.  However, we did get to see the helicopter take off and a new one come, that the kids did get to sit in.  Even though it was a very hot day again, the kids loved the expo, especially the two boys.  My camera battery died part way thru, so some of these pictures are from my phone, which does not take the greatest pictures.

We have been so thankful that both of our parents have a pool for us to swim in.  It has been so hot, we have not done much else.  Thanks to both sets of parents for so graciously allowing us to swim and pass the time on the hot summer days.

Kate got to have Sami over to play one day and we took her swimming too.

Happy Father’s Day

We had a busy, but fun Father’s Day weekend.  We spent Saturday with the extended Kaiser Family and we plan to celebrate with my dad in a couple of weeks.  Sunday we spent with Mike’s dad.  Mike is a great dad and does so good playing with the kids and really building relationships with them.  It’s an honor to be married to him.  =)  Happy Father’s Day, Mike, and our dad’s too.

Some pictures of Mike swimming with the kids.

Kate and Lincoln went to the basement to watch Nic and Caleb play the Wii.  We found them like this when we went to leave for home.  =)

Kate got some tickets to a Cornbelter’s Game from school, so we went with Nic and Amanda to a baseball game one night.
